Getting Started

The first thing to do in domain investing is, of course, getting domain names. There are many places to purchase them. The bigger the portfolio the easier it is to sell. Pick one name and use that as your homepage to showcase the rest of them. You can easily create a site with no coding involved by using wordpress or other services like squarespace, though these sites require you to have a hosting account which can cost extra money, so another idea is to lease a domain name for your homepage for a few months until your domain names are sold then that’s it and you don’t have to pay for a whole year of hosting, kind of like a try before you buy, if it works out and you are successful at it, then go and get a hosting server for your own homepage, like hostgator.

Make sure to get your twitter handle and facebook page of your homepage name to get the word out about names for sale, don’t sell on twitter, facebook, or other social sites, use them as outposts to connect with potential buyers. Follow other domain investors twitter accounts and blogs to stay up to date on latest domains that are sold. Join domain forums which also have many good tips and threads to post your names for sale for buyers. The main place you have to be though is the auction sites like Sedo and afternic. These sites will also allow you to have parking pages for your names which can also generate income in the mean time.
